The Rare Biosphere

When Sophie comes home from high school to find her parents have been deported, she immediately goes into bunker-down survival mode. But her plan is complicated by a well-meaning high school friend who, in a series of attempts to ask her out, discovers her secret.

Meet the Playwright

Chris Cragin-Day

Chris Cragin-Day is an alumna of The Public's EWG (The River Nun, 2009 Spotlight Series) and O'Neill NMTC (Son of a Gun, co-writer Don Chaffer). Her play, Martin Luther on Trial, developed with Max McLean and directed by Michael Parva, just finished a national tour and an Off-Bway run. Her play, Foster Mom, recently won Premiere Stages New Play Award and received a production there. Her play, A Woman, directed by Kel Haney, was part of 59E59th's Summer Shorts 2017. Other NYC productions: The Unusual Tale of Mary and Joseph's Baby (Fringe 2016, co-writer Don Chaffer), The Selfish Giant (co-writer Michael Castillejos), Son of a Gun (co-writers Don and Lori Chaffer), and Emily (Firebone Theatre). Son of a Gun was also presented at Joe's Pub and was a Richard Rogers Award finalist. Chris is an Assistant Professor of English and Theater at The King's College NYC.
