Fishing for Alaska

Written and Performed by Sturgis Warner

A New York City theater artist, on a quest for consequence, collides head-on with Alaska and her commercial fishing industry.

Sturgis Warner

Sturgis Warner is an actor-turned-director-turned actor, once again. Fishing for Alaska is his only real play, although he has collaborated on others and worked with many playwrights developing new scripts and projects. Acting credits include The Public Theater, Second Stage, Signature, The Atlantic, La Mama, P.S.122, Naked Angels and many others. He is Artistic Director of Twilight Theatre Company -- a tool not an institution -- best known for Palestine, written and performed by Najla Sad, and produced in association with New York Theatre Workshop. He has directed numerous other Twilight productions along with ones at Actors Theatre of Louisville (Humana Festival), Barrington Stage, Abingdon Theatre Company, The Kitchen Theatre (Ithaca, NY), New Jersey Rep, Adirondack Theatre Festival, Encore Theatre (San Francisco), Mile Square Theatre, among others. He is a member of New York Theatre Workshop's Usual Suspects, is on the Artistic Cabinet of the Lark Play Development Center and has close affiliations with INTAR and its Artistic Director, Lou Moreno.
